Screening of the film “The Vow from Hiroshima”

  • Millerton Movie House 48 Main Street Millerton, NY, 12546 United States (map)

The Salisbury Forum presents a free screening of the film The Vow from Hiroshima at the Millerton Moviehouse on Sunday, January 15 at 10:30 am. Doors open at 10 am.

This documentary is an intimate portrait of Setsuko Thurlow, who was pulled from a fiery building after the first atomic bomb was dropped in 1945. The experience shaped her future life as she kept a pledge she made to her classmates who perished that no one would experience such a fate again. When the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017, she delivered the acceptance speech on behalf of all the survivors of the bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

This moving story is told through the lens of her friendship with second generation survivor and producer of the film, Mitchie Takeuchi. The screening will be followed by Q & A with Mitchie and director, Susan Strickler, a long-time resident of the Northwest Corner of Connecticut.

No registration needed, admission is free and welcome to all.
